  2. Gain insight into the blinders of our academic theories and supervisory practice for CALD/First Nations families.

  3. Key concepts to carry a culturally centred clinical practice that brings an active engagement from CALD/First Nations people.

Culture Expressions in conversations.

The second workshop theme builds on the foundational workshop. You will deepen your understanding on:

  • Culture and Emotions within the context of mental health.

  • Cultural expressions and protocols that will be important in a power differential relationship such as psychotherapy.

  • Understand collectivist thinking pertaining to positive emotions - necessary in outward identity and negative emotions in layers of interpersonal relationships.

This workshop will help you to carry practice skills in your capacity to engage and intervene using with CALD/First Nations people.

Engaging Fathers and Sons

This workshop theme has evolved from participants attending the first two workshop series. You will deepen your understanding on:

  • Working with patriarchy within the context of mental health.

  • Cultural expressions and protocols that will be important in a power differential relationship.

  • Bridging western attachment theories for CALD/First Nations fathers and sons.

  • Integrating knowledge into practice using case studies.

This workshop will help you to carry confidence regardless of your gender/race/cultural background to meaningfully engage with CALD/First Nations men, fathers and/or grandfathers.
